Talking seriously now: the story of Benjamin Button is beautiful, curious and sad in the same time. My first impression was that the story resembles somehow with Voltaire's satire of Candide: Or, The Optimist (1762) in the pursuit of happiness or the world seen throughout Percival's eyes. Enough with comparisons.
Is captivating to see the world in an unique kind of way from one end to another I'd say. Why? For those of you (the majority I suppose) who have seen the movie the plot is simple: the story of a man who "was born under unusual circumstances", a man who was born in his eighties and ages backwards but, like any of us, he is unable to stop time. You can watch his strange unusual and yet normal life story from 1918 till the 80s.
And as usual the main food has a special condiment: love. Among film history I must add that all captivating movies had a love story. So has this one. I'm not quite thrilled about choosing Cate Blanchett for the feminine part but is director's choice.
The Oscars this movie received for make-up and special effects were well deserved. I must let the ones who haven't seen this movie yet to watch it peacefully for about 2 hours and 45 minutes and make their one impression. From my point of view I love it and I'll give it a 9.5.
I wonder: after seing this movie, how long do you still wanna be young?
