Hello there!

Hi everyone! Long time no see. I've been caught with so many changes in 2013 that I had so little time to post something here. And there also were all kind of ideas, new projects, long working hours. I'm still going to write here even though I began also writing a new cooking blog, a personal project. It only has one post for the moment and requires a little bit more work that usual but one step at a time.

The weather here if you wonder is cold. Like 2 years ago on Christmas holiday there was no snow, but for a week now we have so much to give to others too. Anyway, things are going great and I'm back on track.
A happy new year to you all!

Birds singing on my window

Missed me? Me too. After a long time no writing there is summer and the weather in finally fine. And as I was saying in the title some little birds are singing outside my office's window. If you close the eyes, it's almost like being in a forest. Nice, nice, nice!
Nice to be back. See ya soon!

Tuesday - About winter and Japan

Good morning!

How are you? I hope you're all fine and in high spirits. As you can see from the first picture in this post winter is back with snow and everything. I don't want it to settle here forever and maybe by the end of this week it will melt down.

Last evening we had an interesting event at the Japanese school. We commemorated 2 years after the tragedy that struck Japan March 11 2011. The few of us that were brave enough to get out of the house and fight the really bad weather, watched a documentary, listened to our Japanese teachers' self experience with the earthquake and the tsunami (my teacher was here in Romania at that time while his then fiancee now wife was in one of the cities that was most affected by the earthquake - he found out that she was alive only after 24 hours), tried to turn some milk cartons into lamps and sang a song (Sakura wo saku) that was recorded and sent to Japan.

It was a nice feeling to be able to do something for the victims of the earthquake, a little gesture from the heart, a smile from a faraway country, a message for the ones that in reality are giving us a lesson. I hope our thoughts will reach those that need them and will give them a little more strength to fight for their future, for the future of Japan.

Here are some step by step photos of transforming the milk carton into a lamp. I admit I don't have a talent whatsoever in the craft area but I tried my best. I believe it turned out pretty nicely after all.

Htomi sensei's example

first step - grab a milk carton and peel it off (that's the most difficult part of all)
follow carefully the steps
after cutting the carton

final result
a ray of hope

Picture posts - Monday

As I previously said I intend to have another weekly series of posts, this time with images. Sorry for the poor quality of those in this first post, dedicated to yesterday's evening.
I was heading home under the menace of some grey clouds and strong wind. Right before leaving work they announced at the radio and orange code for bad weather starting Tuesday at 4 ending same day after 14.00 hours. Great! Schools are closed today but someone has to go to work. I'll post a little later some pictures from today. They got it right this time with the weather predictions. Outside, the winter is back and I wonder if I should buy Easter goodies or find a Christmas tree instead.
Here some pix from last evening when it just begun to snow. What you can see at the base of the sidewalk are the frozen snowflakes fallen in 5 minutes.

Cheers for the winter time!

Nickelback - Trying Not To Love You

That's a very special mix between coffee (for coffee lovers like me), love for Seinfeld and Nickelback. Sip it till the end. It's really nice. Meanwhile, I'm gonna drink my coffee.

Day 5 - Finally Friday

That's a sneak peak at the weather status this morning from my bedroom's window. Ya, it's just lovely. Back to warm heavy uncomfortable clothes, umbrella and the rest of the attire. Can you fight the weather? I guess not.
Add to that some lack of sleep, some problems with the phone company and an overcharged bill (I'll write more about it after I have all the details myself; for now I decided only to receive calls), the usual daily fun and it sums up into a marvelous state of spirit. Ah, smiling? Forgot about it. Gonna practice it more. Thank God for the weekend! I need it to clear my mind.

I intend a new series of posts for next week, I'm gonna write about soon.
