The photos in the previous post were taken at the fortress of Fagaras, near Brasov in March this year. I was in a 2 days trip across the country, mainly in Transylvania area. I've been passing nearby Fagaras fortress many times, but now was the only time I've been there. And I liked it. It looks so medieval and I loved the museum inside. Pity I couldn't take pictures inside. The city is first mentioned documentary in 1222 and it is a must if you visit the area. There was some snow at the end of March as can be seen in photos but soon the temperatures went wild and by the end of our trip, we even had 19 degrees Celsius.
Then we went further and, in a village you could easily ignore, we found this relics of a Cistercian monastery. The Romanian name is Carta, the German name Kerg. It was built as a Cistercian Monastery in Tara Fagarasului back in 1198. Currently is a Lutheran Evangelical Church. It is built in a Gothic style and even though just parts of it were saved, you can visit it by just simply asking for the keys. It was nice to be given the keys and just enter and enjoy peacefully the view. So quiet. It seemed from another world. I enjoyed this one.

After a full day, we decided to find a place to stay and we wondered a little more in our search.

Next stop was at Cisnadie, near Sibiu where, unfortunately, we couldn't take photos. This was another interesting visit same day, because we went to Saint Walpurga Evangelical Church and Citadel, or one of Transylvania's most famous fortified churches. This strangely named church, that reminded me of Faust's Valpurgical Nights, was built in 13th century and has the first clock tower and the first lightning detector in Transylvania. The pastor took an entire hour from his time to explain us all about the place's history. He speaks also German for those interested and is a very nice person to talk to. Everything from the Turks and mongol invasions, the treasure under the church, defense strategy etc.
