Osushi

Last week, thanks to celebrating Japan month in Bucharest, I had the great opportunity among other events to be invited at the Sushi demonstration held at Crowne Plaza hotel. The 2 master chefs, Masayoshi Kazato and Kensaku Yoshida, turned the demonstration of how to prepare sushi into a real show. For nearly 2 hours I haven't had time to get bored, and I surely laughed a lot too.

it should be like this ...
you got it right?

For example, when Kazato-san was talking about the importance of preparing a safe food for the customers using vinegar and bamboo leaves, he also mentioned that before leaving home Yoshida-san made sure to cut little pieces of bamboo leaves and cover his wife with them in order to keep her safe and sound until he came back. :)) How could not burst into laughter when such a little serious man says that?
And he continued his presentation by also demonstrating how the very expensive knives used in preparing sushi (is like 500 dollars a piece) are that effective that you can cut (only if experienced, DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME, PLEASE!) a cucumber into pieces on a young lady's bare hand. He did that demo and added afterwards that in case there was a man he would do the cut on his neck :).

ta daa... and the hand is fine :)

There were also some guest chefs from Cluj and from Zen Sushi Bucharest (my fav sushi bar in town) and some diplomas giving. Afterwards I had the chance to taste for the first time sake (and I forgot to make a wish :(). It was delicious but really strong. And of course I brought home some sushi and even got my brother tasting it. Surprisingly, he loved it. What a relief!

please try some of it!

It was the second time eating sushi for me. My first sushi experience wasn't that good. I guess it really depends of how it's prepared. If you look closely at those pictures, you can tell how it felt that time. Although now it was great, tasty, flavoured.

let's give it a shot ...
on a second thought ...
