EMA 2009

Green day opened the show with a flamboyant concert. Billie Armstrong changed his hair color (again), turning into a lovely blond punk. The public was delirious while Billie went among the people his guitar in hands singing Do you know the enemy.

Then Katy Perry the lovely excentric host of this year show went on stage singing a mega mix of the best song nominees in a cabaret decor. Her outfits and decors were inspired by 1930 cabaret theme and I enjoyed the most the champagne glass she stood in. The first to be awarded were U2 for the Best Live Act. The band sustained a mini concert at Brandenburg gate in the same line with EMA’s theme: freedom. Beyonce won not one, but 3 trophies for Best Song (Halo – I’m sorry Iol, but I’ve told you is a great song, that girl really has the voice; OK, I don’t wanna be a next Kenny West), Best Female and Best Video (Single Ladies). Thanks to all the fans, Green day were gratified with Best Rock, yes! (my votes have been listened!). Talking about rock, Placebo won the Best Alternative this year. I’m not a huge fan of Tokyo Hotel, but those emo punkie so 80s style guys won the award for the Best Group. Among the other winners this year were: Jay-Z – Best Urban (I would’ve chosen Eminem), the turkey group maNga for Best European Act, Best Male – Eminem, Best Push Artist – Pixie Lot, Lady Gaga – Best New Act (sincerely my votes were for LaRoux), Linkin Park – Best World Stage Performance. It was a great show that Berlin offered in 2009. And it was my first time voting.
