1982

1982 is not another title of an anticipation novel, even though it could be the title of a certain book I have in mind. It was then that the first pope in history, Pope John Paul II, made the first visit in UK, president Nixon visited Romania, Spain became the 16Th NATO member, Michael Jackson released Thriller album, Ghandi, the movie, won the Oscar, Gabriel García Márquez won the Nobel for literature, princess Grace de Monaco died due to a severe car accident, and world lost one of the greatest actresses, Ingrid Bergman, yes it was then that I’ve decided to come to this world, me and my generation that I’m so proud of: the Generation of `82.

I’m not going to talk here about it, at least not right now, but what I want to highlight is the world we stepped in, how it was, what music listened our parents back then, what happened of importance that year. I’ve done a small research in the last couple of weeks about it.

Where this idea came from? One Sunday I was watching VH1 morning hits, and as you know, all the videos marked the year of appearance. As listening one of the songs that I like so much, The Clash - Should I stay or should I go, I’ve noticed it was issued 1982. Wow! That’s the year of my birth, I told myself. And curious by nature, I’ve begun a search on the internet for other hits of 1982. And the list is not disappointing and not short either. I've listened each of the 100 songs thought to be the la creme de la creme de 1982 in music. Here's what I've chosen:
