Cinema rodent

I haven't been to the end of the world yet (even though I have this in plan) but I'm going to talk here about a movie. I've seen some movies lately and I'm going to tell you about them. One of those movies that is great in summer time and especially in holiday time is Australia. In first place this movie, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, seemed to be a little bit shallow, but, as usual, I've said to give it a try. One impediment is that it takes about 3 full hours to see it. Then at the begining as in the first hour is quite week in plot development and quite comical in a bad way (is quite comical to watch Nicole Kidman trying to play stupid). Then, as the saga continues, you can let yourself taken by the beautiful landscapes of Australia and the love story that precedes the WW2 and becomes stronger once the war hits Australian coast. Even though the movie has a bad start I'll give it a 7.50.

Another movie that was a huge disappointment for me is Chéri with Michelle Pfeiffer in the leading role. I’ve seen the movie trailer and on Wednesday evening I’ve went with some friends to the cinema. The girls pleaded for Chéri while the boys for Public Enemies. If I could only choose for both of them at the same time? The dice have been cast. And the winner was Chéri. The action takes place back in the 19Th Century in France’s Belle Époque. In fact the last sparkle of this glamorous world right before the First World War. Is the story that introduces the viewer in the world of courtesans. In the beginning are presented the most famous courtesans of their time and the fact that now their have aged and most of them retreated. But one of them, the most beautiful falls in love with the very young and irresponsible son of a colleague. Their love story as the entire movie is a mixture of tragedy and hilarious. But the thing that upset me the most was the end. It was so abrupt that when the cast was on the screen I was still wondering if that was the end or just a cut done by mistake. But the costumes were great and as always Michelle. It’s a 5 points movie.

Public enemies I have seen it after coming back from holiday and had no regrets doing that. It was lovely. I’ve enjoyed that gangster’s movie and the humor of Johnny Depp. The story drags us back in 1930’s Chicago. It is here that John Dillinger the bank robber lived and loved fearless of the authorities. His chaser, the FBI agent Melvin Purvis, will do everything to catch him. Meanwhile, John falls in love with Billie Frechette his “black bird”, authorities speculating this relation in order to enchain Dillinger. It’s an interesting movie you should not miss seeing it. I just love that song on the OST, Ten Million Slaves. It's quite catchy. (9 points)

As for comedies, there a romantic one entitled The Proposal. Sandra Bullock portrays Margaret Tate, a chief editor woman who's assistant, Andrew Paxton, is forced to marry her in order to avoid her being deported back to Canada. Of course there are funny moments in this movie. One of the hilarious ones is when Margaret had her mobile phone stolen by an eagle and she runs as crazy with a little puffy dog in her arms praying for a trade with that eagle: the dog for the phone. Or the one when she dances in the woods, or ... You'd better see it yourself. (7.5)
