The longest day of the year celebrated with Placebo

Placebo were incredible. I'm so glad I'd chosen to see them closer (pitch A). I'm a little bit upset because we weren't allowed to enter the stadium with any kind of camera (even though one of the girls in our group managed to hide her camera in a sticks bag) and my phone pix are not that excellent, but they're something. The entry was kind of slow, because of the check in points, but when we eventually got in everything seemed to settle down. The sun dropped its torch from the sky and glimmered right behind the stage. Thank God Placebo sang after the sunset. It was the longest day of the year (21st of June). I must have caught some tan.

The opening was made by the Australian band The Expatriate that were pretty much good. From what I understood they were chosen by Placebo to sing in the opening because of the similarities that unites them: the difference between their nationality and their mother tongue, and the country their families chose to live in. (Bryan Molko is originally Belgian, but he lives in UK). The boys from The Expatriate have a nice musical style, a little girlish I would say, but I must confess that most of my attention and of the other women around was caught by the electric bass guitar guy on the right (tall, blond, muscles, gorgeous). Girls! :)

After that we waited another hour for Placebo's sound crew to settle everything. Even the sound crew (The mad crew) made quite a show. They were pretty funny, especially the Dexter face guy who almost was left without pants thanks to his nice colleagues. At 9 o'clock sharp the band was on the stage and the crowd was delirious.

As I said before and I might tend to repeat myself Placebo were absolutely perfect. The public must have overwhelmed them and they were thrilled with that. They begun singing tracks from their new album, 4 of them in the same order on the album: Kitty Litter, Ashtray heart, Battle for the sun and For what is worth. Then they mixed the new songs with old ones: Special needs, Special K, Meds, Taste in Men, Song to say Goodbye, Bitter end, Infrared, Julien, Come undone, Follow the cops back home.

Molko felt that good that at some point he smoked a cigarette. He toled us that it was great to be in a country were you're still free to smoke on the stage, because back in the UK they are cutting their freedom slowly but surely piece by piece everyday. It was interesting when Bryan presented the band and introduced for the first time in Romania Steve, the battery guy from California. As for Stefan he was introduced as his 15 years old partner, his "Queen". In return, Stefan presented Molko as his "king", then he changed his mind and called him his "drama queen". More appropriate I would say. The public managed to call them back on stage twice. They were incredible. I can't wait for their next concert.
