First day of spring

Signs of spring? Let's see:

snowdrops

evening light

flowers

morning light

green plants

light and more light

It's still cold but the sun is trying its best. I'm glad to see more light, more clear sky and flowers. Welcome spring!
Sorry for the pictures. I've took them with my phone. Too lazy to drag the camera with me.

Whishes, Easter, flowers and a creepy rabbit

Last weekend was Easter, but right before that the trees were in full bloom. And some, still are. I just simply love that. From mid April to mid June there are all kind of flowers in the garden: the trees are blooming and you can feel the bitter-sweet smell as you take a walk on the streets (I confess, I keep a slow pace in my way home just to enjoy my free aromatherapy landscape included walk), then are the daffodils, tulips of different colors etc. etc. And if you have the chance of some sunny days, because on spring the rain is back, the mix is perfect.

I finally had the chance to hang my Martisor in the first bloomed tree. There is this tradition to wear the red and white silk thread until you meet a bloomed tree and then to hang in it the thread and make a wish. It was kind of funny to fulfill this tradition because there were so many people on the street and I'm a shy person and I don't want people look at me while doing this. So I was walking down the street and saw this gorgeous tree and then waited for the people walking away and did the knot, made a wish. And then I thought to take a picture or 2 with my phone, but the right moment I was doing this a cab passed by right next to me and the driver looked suspicious at my like I was trying to do something bad to that tree. I felt so embarrassed. But I did it. Hope that wish will come true!

Those are some pictures taken with my phone in a March morning because there were so many trees in bloom I couldn't have missed.

And there is a picture taken from my office window last week with some yellow tulips

The garden the Saturday before Easter. The grass was popping out.

a bad picture of a creepy rabbit (don't you think its smile is creepy?)

elaya hates cold humid weather

What can I say more? Besides being awfully lazy lately and not writing a line in a couple of weeks, the weather has changed quite a bit in a spring -ish one with rain and windy humid days. I haven't tried a skirt yet this spring because I'm cold. And maybe is an excuse but I took so many pictures with my camera and my phone but haven't had a micro-USB cable to download them on my computer. I'll try to do this tonight. There are photos of the streets in spring and of my garden. Bad weather go away!

How do I know the spring is coming?

Simple. I found myself the other evening (OK, night, it was past 22.00) walking hands in my pocket and admiring the stars. The past days there was, and fortunately still is, a great "getting close to" of Jupiter and Venus. Then it hit me: wow, it's been such a long time since I last walked those streets my had in the clouds without worrying I'll fall and break my neck. Why! Because of  the snow and ice and heavy winter that forced me to watch my feet and look only to where I was walking, nothing more. I missed that so much. Now I feel the spring is getting closer. A lovely weekend to ya all!

First day of spring

At least you can turn the page of the calendar and say *yes*, spring at last! No wonder that after getting up this morning I had the *wow* moment when having a look outside. Last night it snowed a little and, to my wonder, a thick layer of snow was covering everything. It burst my bubble. OK that doesn't mean I have to be sad, I told myself. And to my joy the sun was up in the sky and the snow melted by noon. No matter what I was in high spirits today with the sun, the idea of spring and the Martisor day altogether. I received so many martisoare and they so nice. I only wish that my internet mobile connection will work just to post some pictures I took today. And for the day to be even brighter while eating the cake the company gave us I've noticed one little interesting detail: a heart shaped chocolate piece. It seems I see love signs everywhere I go. :) The spring must be the guilty one. Hehe!
I tried to subscribe to NaBloPoMo but I've find out that you must have an invitation to use the service (and I don't have one). But writing a post everyday for an entire month can be done even without that, isn't it?!? I'll try to keep with the idea as a new project of the month of March. A beautiful spring to you all!

Shovelin'

The past weeks, as I've said before, there was a constant in snow falling, blizzard orange code, ice, wind and overall freezing cold. This week the snow begun to melt due to (happily to announce that) finally positive temperatures (up to 5 degrees today). What else changed? Let's say that those who were having nothing but stay in home days became thoughtful and started shoveling. There was a nightmare not having where to walk on the sidewalk due to the snow gathering after every fall, and it was pretty much tiring to crisscross  the streets from one sidewalk to another or just walking on the main road along with cars and trying to avoid them or wait for them to pass by me... In other words it was a nightmare to be a pedestrian in this city I actually love so much. That should also be translated in a ruined pair of leather boots. :( Now, armed with a a pair of "calamity boots", as I love to call them, and a rather expensive shoe treatment that prevents water infiltration (I've also prepared my rubber boots for the warmer days) I walk faster on the almost "clean shaved" streets. I'm telling you, if you walk down those streets and listen carefully, you'll hear the sound of shoveling everywhere. In a frenzy, everyone wants to call, in a sort of a ritual, the spring, the sun, the warmer days. I sincerely await for the spring and, with it, my inspiration. Winter does not inspire me to write.

A lovely weekend to you all!

This year

It's already December? No it's actually already January. Wow, that means a year is about to end, again. I don't know how time flies so quickly, it's just so hard to keep up with it. Like yesterday it was Christmas 2010 and now we prepare for a New Year's Eve.

I intended to write this article since a week ago but with holidays and all the time, the time again, went by. I'm thinking about a retrospective of 2011 before its end, cause from tomorrow on, for a few days, I'll be out of my computer.

As usual I'll condiment my story with pictures.
The very first moments of 2011 were spent at the mountain side with friends in a joyful party. For my surprise everyone went sleeping earlier than usual. I had no sleep so I spent the time till dawn playing cards with a new friend. It was nice, a new beginning for me, like a good sign for the year to come.

And as the year moved on, despite the cold and winter I dislike, I've decided to make some changes. One of which was changing my hairstyle. And I wanted a drastic change. I kept looking over the internet on all kind of styles and colors but in my head I knew it already. Even though I've backed up a few times because asking others, one day I got the courage to do it. So, for the second time in my life, after a looong time, I'm having a short hair. Haven't I told you how much I love it?

And so the spring began. It was a cold Easter but the sun began slowly to shine and in enjoyed its warmth day after day. What more can I say about the blooming flowers. The image speaks for itself.

Spring meant meeting with friends, taking a quick trip to the mountain side in April, going to the Speech contest in Japanese the second day after March 11, participating to a Spring Matsuri at the Botanical Garden and trying to practice for the first time Shodo (I am terrible at calligraphy). Then my name day and the first reunion with friends on that spring, their shock at seeing me with a short hair, warmer days, the first time ever complete lake tour at jogging (a huge personal victory), traveling for the first time by train in the city, shopping with mom, shopping with friends, a friend asked me to tutor her, progress in Japanese language learning.

Then the summer came and a wedding initiated it. We are 3 best friends ever since college and one of my friends had her wedding in June. What can I say: it was a blast for 3 wonderful days. I had fun and felt great. I'm always well received in her family that feels like mine each time I get there. And it also was the first time ever I've been a maid of honor. My favorite season of all continued with a party at the japanese school before the holiday, then with a barbecue with friends at my place, in the garden (I just love summer in my garden), playing tennis and visiting the National Arena on its opening night, and the great holiday with friends at Piatra Neamt, exploring the country. A few weeks later we headed to Balcik, a place I was fascinated with ever since I was reading about it years ago in the interbellic literature. A well worthed experience on the steps of the former Queen. Not to forget August when I had the chance to be that close to Bon Jovi at their first concert in Romania. The feeling cannot be described :).

Fall arrived as quickly as everything happened this year. It brought a new wedding and again being the maid of honor (this time around I somehow managed to faint in the church right the moment the bride and groom were exchanging rings), then the class reunion after 10 years with some of my ex-classmates (we tried to organize but it was almost impossible to gather everyone), a conference, participating to a Japanese traditional musubi workshop and the Japanese movie festival, subscribing for the Japanese proficiency test and going to classes with new great classmates. October came and brought new surprises for me. When I thought that my B'DAY was approaching and everything seemed to be the old same, I was hit by some incredible happenings. And among the dates and new/old experiences that I never thought will happen to me, I also had the chance to have a dream come true. Thanks to my friends I've seen and got into airplanes and helicopters. Although it was a cold windy day, I only felt the joy of being there :). It was an incredible Bday this year and I'd like to thank to someone up there for it.

The winter caught me learning, learning and re-learning. I must confess that I haven't studied as much in years. But it was a nice thing to do even though I knew nothing except it for days in a row. Then it was the exam and afterwards the holiday craziness begun. One minute I was struggling to finish my exam and the next one, when I opened my eyes, the city was ready for Christmas. My friends sent emails talking about organizing New Year's Eve holiday and the Japanese School announced the Christmas party. I had the chance to see a Japanese Santa this year and received a Japanese calendar. Some of my friends took an acting class and invited us to their show. It was our cultural weekend with theater and opera and all. I had my respiro moment when, after the play, I took the way back home with a dear friend walking through the city and admiring its holiday decorations. And there was Christmas marathon with family coming home, visiting and giving. My, I feel sooo tired. Tomorrow I'm leaving. Not much hope there in my luggage. I think I need a miracle.

Bottom line: this year has been a year of changes, of firsts and, most of it, a year of friendship. Some incredible things happened along it and maybe there was a sign that things can be different. I'm grateful for 2011. Who knows what brings the next year. Let's see!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Rainy days sunny days Spring days

Hello there!

Here comes the spring again. It hit us with full speed. So...keep dreaming. Or maybe not ... cause it's such a wonderfull time for travel, walking in the park or taking pictures. Don't you love spring?!?
I will enjoy for a day that I will stay in the sun like in this picture, lying on the full green grass. I need to charge my batteries. I need a day off, just for me.
What do you think about that? What your plan for this spring time?
